Located east of Palm Springs, the Indio Hills Palms are stands of palm trees that are rarely seen in such profusion throughout the rest of the state.
Declared a National Monument in 1936, Joshua Tree National Park encompasses two deserts - the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert - and the Little San Bernardino Mountains. The park, situated just north of Palm Springs and Palm Desert in southeastern California, offers campgrounds, hiking, biking, rock climbing and much more. The Visitors Center, located at Twentynine Palms, is open daily from 8am to 5pm.
Once a private estate, the Moorten Botanical Garden is now open to the public and features collections of over 3,000 species of plants. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
